REPORT ON THE 48TH KVS NATIONAL SPORTS MEET 2017

         Kendriya Vidyalaya Bengaluru Region hosted the 48th KVS National sports meet 2017 for all the games of Under -17 & Under -19 girls, Swimming and diving for Under-14,17,19  and Cricket boys Under-17 from 4th October 2017 to 8th October 2017.

       The inaugural function was held on 4th October 2017amidst great mirth, verve and camaraderie at Sree Kanteerava Stadium Bengaluru. The day started off with the lovely rendition by the choir to pay salutations to the Lord Almighty. Shri Santosh Kumar Mall, IAS, Commissioner KVS New Delhi was the Chief Guest for the inaugural function. Ms.Ashwini Nachappa, Arjuna Awardee, Athletics was the Guest of Honour  Dr.P.Devakumar, Deputy Commissioner, KVS Bengaluru Region introduced the Chief Guest and delivered the welcome address. The chief guest hoisted the flag signalling the start of the Sports Meet which was followed bythe March past and Oath Taking Ceremony. The students solemnly pledged to uphold the spirit of true sportsmanship. The Chief Guest declared the meet open.

       A cultural extravaganza was put up by the students of various Kendriya Vidyalayas show casing the rich cultural heritage of India.

       The Chief Guest, while addressing the students, said, for the overall development of the individual, it is very important to have co-curricular and extracurricular activities along with the curricular activity. He advised the students to make best use of the facilities provided by the KVS.

        The Closing Ceremony of the 48th KVS National sports meet 2017 was held on 8th October 2017 at Sree Kanteerava Stadium Bengaluru. Shri.G.K.Srivastava, IAS, Additional Commissioner (Admn) KVS(HQ) New Delhi was the Chief Guest . Mr.U.Vimal Kumar, Arjuna Awardee, Former Badminton Player and Chief National Coach was the Guest of Honour  Dr.P.Devakumar, Deputy Commissioner, KVS Bengaluru Region introduced the Chief Guest and delivered the welcome address.

        The students showcased their multifaceted talents.The March Past Parade of the students marching to the beats of the band in their regal attire was very impressive. The performances of the students in colourful drills, group song and dance enthralled the audience and enlivened the atmosphere.

Report of KVS Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2017

24.04.17 to 26.04.17  VENUE: KV IISc BENGALURU

            The 44th KVS Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment exhibition 2017 began formally with a grand Inaugural Ceremony on the 24th of April 2017 at KV IISc Bengaluru with the Honourable Commissioner  KVS (HQ) New Delhi Shri Santhosh Kumar Mall  IAS as the Chief Guest. Guest of Honour Prof.S.Ramakrishnan, Deputy Director IISc Bengaluru,  Dr.P.Devakumar, Deputy Commissioner KVS RO Bengaluru, Assistant Commissioners Sri.V.Rajagopal, Dr.A.K.Mishra and Dr.M.Rajeswari  were some of the distinguished personalities present on the occasion. The special invitees included judges consisting of eminent Scientists, Mathematicians and Environmentalists from renowned Science Institutions of Bengaluru, Principals of local Kendriya Vidyalayas and members of the VMC, KV IISc.

         The three day science festival got off to a spectacular start in the evening of 23rd April with a seminar on “Food security”. A huge gathering of enthusiastic Students from different Kendriya Vidyalayas of India attended the enlightening talk presented by two elite scientists from the University of Agricultural sciences, Karnataka .The Exhibition opened with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony by honourable Commissioner KVS (HQ) New Delhi Shri Santhosh Kumar Mall  IAS. The Judgement of the Exhibits followed the inaugural function.

         About 252 boys and 87girls from Kendriya Vidyalayas across the length and breadth of the country escorted by 25 Male and 25 female Teachers participated in this exhibition. A total of 292 Exhibits under the six sub themes pertaining to the main focal theme “Science and Mathematics for Nation Building” were displayed by the budding scientists, mathematicians and environmentalists from over 300 Kendriya Vidyalayas. The Judges had subjected the exhibits to a thorough study and minute scrutiny, for doing justice to the efforts of the participants. Their observations were tabulated and marks awarded for preparing the results.

        A Poster competition on the theme “Food security” was conducted on the second day of the Science Exhibition. To commemorate the “International Year of Pulses 2016”.Three best posters selected by a team of qualified Art Masters were awarded I, II and III prizes .

         The popular Quiz Competition on the theme “Food Security” was conducted on 25th of April 2016. In the final round, four teams out of the 25 regions participated. Each team consisted of two students. The top four teams were selected through a preliminary round of written test conducted on the first day i.e. 24th April 2017.

         A study trip to the prestigious IISc was organized in the morning of 26th April for all the participants and escort Teachers. They visited the Centre for Nano sciences laboratory and Physics labs.

       The third day’s programme reached its conclusion with the Valedictory Function in the evening for which Prof.Bikramjit Basu of Material Research Centre IISc was the Chief Guest. A colourful cultural programme was one the highlights of the concluding day’s programme. Dr.P.Devakumar, Deputy Commissioner KVS RO Bengaluru, blessed the students. In his address, he stressed the need for hard work and sincerity to achieve their goal.  Shri.V.Rajagopal  AC ,RO Bengaluru, announced the names of winners of  the exhibits in the six subthemes , Poster making & Quiz competitions. Trophies for the top three positions along with certificates were  given away by the chief guest to all the Prize winners. The Chief guest Prof.Bikramjit Basu urged the students to develop passion to achieve their targets.

        The three days of the KVS Jawaharlal Nehru National Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition were packed with experimenting, learning, interacting with eminent people in the field of science and study trip making the 44rd Jawaharlal Nehru Science, Mathematics and Environment Exhibition 2017 a memorable experience for all the participants and the organizers.
